The Viña Aquitania winery was founded in 1990 by Frenchmen Bruno Prats, former owner of Cos d'Estournel, and the late Paul Pontallier, former general manager of Chateau Margaux, in collaboration with Chilean oenologist Felipe de Solminihac. In 2002, Frenchman Ghislain de Montgolfier, then director of Bollinger champagne, joined the team.
The vineyards are spread across two regions: in the Maipo Valley in the Andes, where Cabernet Sauvignon is grown from vines originating in Bordeaux, producing an exceptionally smooth and elegant wine of international renown; and in Traiguén, in the Malleco Valley, the southernmost wine-producing region of Chile, where Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Sauvignon Blanc are cultivated, with their distinctive balance and quality.
